EN: Hugo Aasjord (b. Gravdal in Lofoten 1955) is a Norwegian painter, sculptor, printmaker and musician. He grew up in the Lofoten islands and Steigen, and comes from a family with long traditions in the fishing, whaling and fishing industries. Hugo Aasjord broke with expectations when he at the age of 17 years were enrolled in Fachhocshule für Design in Münster, as the youngest ever. In the course of the last 40 years Aasjord has held a number of exhibitions at home and abroad. He has had public art commissions, worked as an artistic consultant for public buildings and been an art teacher. Aasjord live on both sides of the Vestfjord: In Engeløya in Steigen, where he has a private gallery, and in Skrova in Lofoten. In the latter place he has been working in recent years, with his wife Mette Bolsøy, to restore Aasjordbruket. The ambition is to transform the old fish factory into a gallery, restaurant and hotel. Hugo Aasjord has four children. His art is predominantly abstract, yet inspired by the coastal and marine areas, and North Norwegian nature and light.

Han er oppvokst i Lofoten og Steigen og stammer fra en familie med lange tradisjoner innen fiskeri, hvalfangst og fiskeriindustri. Hugo Aasjord brøt med forventningene da han i en alder av 17 år ble tatt opp ved Fachhocshule für Design i Münster, som den yngste noensinne. I løpet av de siste 40 årene har Aasjord holdt en rekke utstillinger i inn- og utland. Han har hatt offentlige utsmykkingsoppdrag, jobbet som kunstnerisk konsulent for offentlige bygg og vært kunstlærer. Aasjord bor på begge sider av Vestfjorden: I Engeløya i Steigen, der han har eget galleri, og i Skrova i Lofoten. Sistnevnte sted har han de senere årene arbeidet, sammen med sin kone Mette Bolsøy, for å restaurere Aasjordbruket. Hans kunst er i overveiende grad abstrakt, men samtidig inspirert av kyst og hav, og nordnorsk natur og lys.
